First Board Meeting of the Year and After Hours
|
This week, CFHLA was excited to kick off the new year with our first Board of Directors Meeting and After Hours reception at our VIP Member, Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital.
We'd like to thank our CFHLA VIP member Clean Tec Outsourcing for sponsoring the February Board of Directors Meeting and Allen Johnson with the City of Orlando Venues for updating our Board Members on their upcoming events and vision for the future.
Immediately following the CFHLA Board of Directors Meeting, more than 240 CFHLA Lodging and Allied Members joined us for our first After Hours Networking Reception of the year. This networking reception, proudly sponsored by Three Lions Upholstery, included outstanding food prepared by Orlando Health's culinary experts and created an opportunity for our members to seek opportunities to do business with other members.
We look forward to hosting many more networking opportunities such as this one, throughout the year!

|
If you want to stay ahead of the curve on the latest developments with the Florida Legislative Session and what’s happening in Central Florida government and politics, the Insider newsletter is a must-read. The Insider delivers clear, timely updates on policy decisions, power shifts, and stories shaping public life. From debates around policies like the Tourist Development Tax to recent campaign updates and political trends, the Insider will help you better understand not just what’s happening, but why it matters. The Insider is emailed out in monthly standard editions, and weekly special editions during the Florida Legislative Session, and you can check it out here to make it part of your routine to stay informed, confident, and in the know.
Insider Preview: Week 4 of the Florida Legislative Session is coming to a close, and with it some important Session milestones. The Senate and House budget subcommittees were scheduled to release their respective budget proposals this week, however both chambers released public statements regarding a delay in those releases until week 5, signaling that they are still out of sync on the numbers as well as highlighting the lingering of 2025 budget process tensions between the two chambers. Additionally, many bills have not been heard in their first committee of reference, making it exceedingly difficult for them to move through the process in a timely manner for them to pass, with only a few weeks left for committees to meet to consider policy bills. More to come in our next edition on Monday!

Supporting Tomorrow's Hospitality Leaders at Jones High School
|
CFHLA is proud to recognize the Grand Bohemian Hotel Orlando for their continued partnership with Jones High School through our Adopt-A-School Program. Their team recently met with the school’s new culinary teacher, Ms. Todman, who brings an impressive background in Food and Beverage and a genuine passion for teaching her students. This meeting was especially important in laying the foundation for a strong, collaborative relationship that will directly enhance real-world learning opportunities for students.
During the discussion, they explored a variety of opportunities, including a field trip to the hotel, engaging the Executive Chef and Pastry Chef to assist with teaching culinary techniques, providing table etiquette instruction, and identifying any equipment replacements that may be needed. They also reviewed scholarship opportunities specifically for culinary students through the ACF (Athlete Connection Foundation), as well as CFHLA Foundation’s Hospitality Student Scholarships. Thank you to the Grand Bohemian Hotel Orlando for identifying meaningful avenues to support high school students with an interest in hospitality!
